The joint article of Fuad Aleskerov, Veronika Belousova, Irina Ivashkovskaya, Kirill Pogorelsky and Anastasia Stepanova “Analysis of banks’ cost efficiency and voting power of the shareholders” was published in February 2010 in the 2nd issue of the Journal “Management in credit institution”. This is the first paper published as a result of the joint project of Corporate Finance Center, Advanced Mathematics Department and Banking Department.

This interdisciplinary study uses corporate finance theories as well as frontier efficiency modeling and power indexes application. In this paper we analyzed the relationship between ownership structure and efficiency of commercial banks. Ownership structure was built up into the model with Banzhaf power index. Efficiency was measured with the cost frontier efficiency curve. The efficiency model was tested using the sample of 100 largest Russian commercial banks.
